About Me
Hello and welcome! I'm Julianna Ryan, a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach. I know exactly what it's like to be a fitness beginner, as I didn't start working out until I was 29 years old. I have 14 years of college-level tutoring and teaching experience, and I approach training and coaching with the mindset of an educator. I believe that people of all sizes should work out. I help people start on their wellness journey by providing motivation, accountability, and empowerment.

Jules has changed my entire outlook on working out. I booked my first month of sessions with her as a way to commit to "shredding for the wedding." I started the sessions with the goal of losing weight through 2 sessions per week. Flash forward 6 months and my goal has changed. Through working with Jules, I've learned the importance of consistency and routine, that my body is powerful and can lift weights I never imagined were possible, the amount of additional energy that can come from consistent workouts, the importance of rest, stretching and balance, and so much more. My new goal is consistency because moving my body each week with Jules makes me feel better than I ever have.
Jules pushes me to do my best every session but ensures she never pushes me too far. If I mention a slight pain, she immediately modifies the move or switches it out entirely. If I'm feeling extra tired that week or she knows I just got back from vacation, she ensures the workout is slower and more controlled. We discuss which weights are best, and she's always ready to say "I think you can do it" when we talk about a heavier weight.
It's clear Jules meticulously crafts every session. There is always variety, never the same workout twice. We've done so many different types of workouts and she's always teaching me new moves.
Jules is always providing motivational words and cute phrases that make me laugh through every session. And she's always checking in on me after workouts. If you're thinking about working with Jules, go for it. You'll look forward to every session. I always do!

My relationship with movement has been weird. Growing up I loved playing sports and games and was constantly on the move: manhunt, football, jump rope, racing. If I could gather enough people, I was roping them into a game. But as I got older, and there were less people who I could convince to run around with me, I kind of just stopped moving. It started to feel weird moving in front of people and I thought this was just the reality of adulthood. At some point movement became a thing that was embarrassing, spectacle-like, and all the freedom and fun that made it so beautiful when I was a kid was gone.
So when I started working with Jules I was hesitant to say the least. I was reluctant, and didn’t really have set goals. In our first session, Jules helped me realize what I wanted out of movement: I wanted to feel free again, to be able to have fun again, and to do one small but impossible task: a single push up.
Starting to work out when you have no experience with fitness or movement and have never set foot in a gym, feels like climbing over an insurmountable chasm. There is no path available for people to begin. It feels impossible. But Jules is so empathetic, compassionate, and contagiously supportive that this chasm becomes really easy to navigate, very quickly.
Jules understands that working out isn’t just about physical health or physical movement, she understands and is compassionate towards how emotionally overwhelming starting this process can be.
I’ve been working with her for six months (I had only intended to try it out for 2) and now she can’t get rid of me. I feel more confident, more capable, and more energetic (something that I thought was a lie that gym people told us non-fitness people- how can exerting energy make you feel more energetic?) I don’t understand the science or magic that makes this true, all I know is that it is.
Jules is also an incredible teacher. She is so receptive to how you feel and what you need in each session, and she will -on the spot- change a movement that isn’t working for you. She cares so deeply about making sure everyone can experience movement in a way that is challenging but also comfortable for them.
She has not only inspired me to reconnect with an aspect of who I am that I didn’t even realize I could have again, but she makes working out accessible and manageable.
So last Friday at a party, a friend of mine dropped to the concrete on a stoop and started doing push ups. I handed my drink to whoever was standing there, dropped to the floor next to him and did five. The whole time I was thinking about playing games as a kid, and races, and competitions, and movement, and fun. And Jules helped me get back there again. So hire her. She is unbelievable.

Jules is amazing! Not only does she motivate, encourage and inspire she also shines a light on your inner powerhouse.
My body is more sculpted and I am more energized from her program.

I’ve been working out with Jules since November 2022. In these last eight months, I’ve accomplished things I didn’t think my body could do. I can successfully plank, execute full sit ups, push ups, and burpees. Jules’ approach to exercise and nutrition is refreshing and sustainable. There’s no diets or guilt. Together we work on strength, flexibility, mindfulness, balance, and fueling my body with foods that help me feel energized and confident in my own skin. These sessions have taught me to not only listen, but actually understand my body, which allows me to tackle my day to day challenges with ease.
Jules always arrives to our sessions promptly with a plethora of prepared workouts to meet me where I am. Her plans are tailored to my personal fitness goals and we follow up with these goals regularly. She is flexible with scheduling and so accessible! Exercising from home is perfect for my busy life. And with her I always feel comfortable working out on Zoom - which can very easily be super awkward. Her programs are affordable and well worth it. I love that part of the session is also a mental check in. She takes into consideration the whole person - where I’m coming from, and what I’ll be doing next. As a therapist myself, I whole heartedly appreciate this humanistic approach.
My experience with Jules has opened me up to enjoying the process, rather than focusing solely on the final product or result. Working out regularly again has significantly improved my mental health, endurance, and self-esteem, if anything, the muscles I’m building are the sprinkles on top! I’m so grateful to Jules for supporting me in loving, understanding, and accepting the body that I have. 10/10 recommend! Five stars!!
